About

My name is Nathalie Van Campenhout, founder of Soulika Studio, based in Belgium.

I am currently studying painting conservation part time at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. The training is strongly practice-based and includes work on artworks in the conservation studio as well as projects carried out in collaboration with institutions such as the Cathedral of Antwerp and several churches in the city.

Long standing interest in artworks

Before returning to study, I worked for many years in a different professional environment. Choosing to begin again in this field was a deliberate decision and reflects a long-standing interest in artworks, materials, and the way objects change and survive over time.

This second professional chapter shapes the way I approach conservation. My work is careful and anatical, observing surfaces, damage, and earlier interventions before deciding how to proceed. What interests me most is understanding how a work was made, how it aged, and what it needs in order to remain stable.

Another important place

Alongside my work in Belgium, India has gradually become another important place in my life. In Pushkar, I collaborate with a girls’ school supported by the Fior di Loto Foundation. Through simple painting sessions centred on colour and materials, the aim is to offer the girls a moment of creativity that is not always present in their usual school day.

Soulika Studio

Soulika Studio grew naturally from these two experiences. On one side, conservation work in Belgium. On the other, a small educational involvement in India. The connection between the two is simple: a belief that painting and colour form part of a shared cultural heritage, and that both preservation and transmission matter.

Shop

In parallel, Soulika Studio also brings a small selection of items from Pushkar to Belgium.

Twenty percent of the benefits are given directly to the Fior di Loto Foundation to support the school.

The remaining part contributes to the development of Soulika Studio and allows me to purchase the materials needed for the activities at the school.
